Stock Study of the Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis, L., 1758) in Ternate Island, North Maluku Province, Indonesia

Due to the continuous exploitation of skipjack tuna in waters Ternate Island, using active pole and line fishing gears, population is suspected experience degradation Island. Therefore, this research was conducted with aim analyzing status populations Island based on dynamics studies, including parameters growth, mortality, recruitment rate. Experimental methods were implemented measure fish length which then analyzed determine pattern rate, yield per recruit. The results showed that parameter studied had an asymptote (L∞) 77.7 cm, a growth coefficient 0.4 year t0 -0.41.
